Partner Twin Cities
Naestved Municipality has participated in twin town cooperation since 1947
The first agreement was made after a conference on twinning in August 1947 in Rauma (Finland). At this conference the cities of Gävle (Sweden), Gjøvik (Norway), Naestved (Denmark) and Rauma reached the agreement for the establishment of Nordic Twin Town Cooperation to do the necessary work to promote the development of friendship and cultural understanding between their citizens.
In April 1990 became the city of Sopot (Poland) Naestved’s twin town and a year later Àlftanes (Island) joined the Nordic Twin Town Cooperation.
Since the year 2000 partnership agreements have been made and Naestved has signed agreements with Pistoia (Italy, 2000), Los Alcázares (Spain, 2001), Alytus (Lithuania, 2002), Narita (Japan, 2003) and finally Chalon-sur-Saône (France, 2006)
